The Mission

The Society of Mining Professors/Societät der Bergbaukunde is a vibrant Society representing the global academic community and committed to make a significant contribution to the future of the minerals disciplines. The main goal of the Society is to guarantee the scientific, technical, academic and professional knowledge required to ensure a sustainable supply of minerals for mankind. The Society facilitates information exchange, research and teaching partnerships and other collaborative activities among its members.

The RoadMap

The Sydney 2009 Annual Meeting utilized a number of break-out sessions and devoted one and a half full days into charting a future Roadmap for the Society. Future Annual General Meetings

The 22nd Annual General Meeting in 2011 will be held in Peru in early September 2011, and will be organized by Prof. Mario Cedron Lassus. The official host will be the Universidad Catolicadel Peru, Lima, Peru. The meeting, however, will be held in Arequipa, Peru, in conjunction with the 2011 Peruvian Mining Convention and Expo. Proposed Annual General Meetings for 2012 and 2013
  • The 23rd Annual General Meeting in 2012 will be held in Wroclaw at the Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland and will be organized by Prof. Monika Hardygora. More details will be provided at a later date.
  • The 24th Annual General Meeting in 2013 will be held in Greece organized by the Technical University of Crete under the leadership of Prof. Zach Agioutantis. This 24th AGM will be coordinated with SDIMI 2013 which will also be organized by the Technical University of Crete. More details will be provided at a later date.
